Interview by Emma Carney

You describe yourself as a ‘modern-day magic maker’—how do you blend ancient manifesting techniques with contemporary witchcraft?”

For me it’s about taking old, powerful practices and making them work in a modern way. I use things like intention-setting, journaling, visualization, and working with the moon. Tools people have used for centuries, but I combine them with things like mindset shifts, affirmations, and raising your vibration through daily habits.

Visualization and vibration are huge parts of how I manifest, I believe that what you see in your mind and feel in your body creates your reality. Contemporary witchcraft, to me, is about tapping into energy, using simple rituals to connect with yourself, and building trust in your own inner power. It’s magic that feels grounded, intentional, and real.

What inspired you to write Manifesting? Was there a pivotal ‘aha!’ moment in your own journey?

The pivotal moment for me happened in New York. I was in this old, run-down bookstore and came across a book on energy. The message was simple but life-changing: the way we live each moment, the energy we carry, is what shapes our reality.

At the time in my life I had checked all the boxes—I was married, had kids, a stay-at-home mom with a career on the side. From the outside, everything looked “right.” But deep down, I knew it wasn’t the life I truly wanted. It was the one I was taught to want. That moment in the bookstore cracked something open in me.

Manifesting came from that place, from realizing we don’t have to live out someone else’s version of happiness. We get to create our own. The book is everything I wish I had known when I first started waking up to that truth.

How would you convince a skeptic that manifestation isn’t just wishful thinking?”

I’d start by saying manifestation isn’t about sitting around hoping things magically appear. It’s about the relationship between your mindset, your energy, and your actions. There’s real science behind it too, your beliefs shape your perception, your perception shapes your behavior, and your behavior creates your results.

Most of us are already manifesting all the time, we just don’t realize it. We’re constantly reinforcing stories about what we can or can’t have, what we’re worthy of, what’s possible for us. Manifestation is about becoming conscious of that process and learning how to direct it.

So no, it’s not just wishful thinking. It’s about aligning your energy, beliefs, and choices with what you actually want, instead of what you’ve been programmed to settle for.

“What’s one simple ritual from the book that beginners can try today”

One of the simplest rituals I love and one anyone can start today is a shower manifesting ritual. As the water runs over you, imagine it washing off all fear, doubt, stress, and anything that’s weighing you down. Feel it all being rinsed away.

Then, shift into visualizing that you’re showering in your dream reality. Maybe it’s your dream home, a luxury hotel, or somewhere you deeply desire to be. Imagine every detail, the space, how it feels, even the scent of the products you’d use. Let yourself feel like it’s already real.

When you step out, hold that energy. Move through the rest of your day as if that version of you already exists

You talk about overcoming self-doubt—how do you confront the ‘inner critic’ during the manifesting process?

The inner critic will always have something to say, especially when you’re trying to grow or ask for more. I’ve learned not to silence it, but to question it. When that voice comes up, I pause and ask: Is this actually true? Or is this a fear I’ve picked up from the past?

I also reconnect with the version of me I’m manifesting into. I ask myself, Would she believe this? Would she let this thought stop her? Usually, the answer is no. And from there, I shift. I’ll use affirmations, visualization, or even just a deep breath to come back to my power.

Your book spans global traditions—which culture’s approach to manifestation surprised you the most?

When I was a child, I loved exploring different religions and spiritual traditions, curious about how people around the world understand energy and intention. What surprised me most was the Buddhist tradition.

Unlike the typical idea of manifesting as “wishing” for something, Buddhism emphasizes mindfulness and being fully present. It teaches that how we think and perceive the world shapes our reality, but in a gentle, non-forcing way. The focus is on creating a calm, clear mind that naturally attracts what aligns with you.

“How has TikTok [and social media] reshaped the way people engage with manifestation? Any downsides?

Social media like TikTok has made manifestation more popular and easier to learn. People share ideas and quick tips that inspire a lot of people to try it for themselves.

But sometimes it can feel too fast or shallow like just saying a few words will make things happen right away. That’s not how it really works, and it can make people feel disappointed.

Manifestation takes time and real effort. Social media is a great place to start, but there’s more to it than what you see in short videos.

“What’s the funniest or weirdest ‘manifestation gone wrong’ story you’ve heard

One of the weirdest ones is actually from my own life. I had been manifesting a move to Florida. visualizing it, planning it, even took a trip there to line everything up. Everything was falling into place… until I came back home to pack, and my ex-husband suddenly decided to sue for full custody, even though he had already agreed to the move.

At first, it felt like the universe completely flipped on me. But looking back, I see it as a moment that asked, “How bad do you want this?” It tested my trust, my clarity, and my ability to keep going even when things got messy. So yeah, sometimes manifestation brings the exact thing you want… but with a twist just to see if you’re really ready for it.

What’s your advice for someone who feels too burned out to even think about manifesting?

If you’re feeling burned out, forget the big vision boards and routines for now. Just come back to something small. Pour yourself a glass of water and drink it with the intention of clearing out anything heavy. Or light a candle and imagine it warming up your energy, even just a little.

“What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects or secret spells?”

Manifesting isn’t about doing more, it’s about shifting your energy. And sometimes the smallest rituals are the most powerful when you’re in a low place.

Yes! I have a new book coming out on September 30th called Witches’ Altar, with Rachel Patterson and Lindsay Squire. It’s all about spells, rituals, and the personal side of your witchcraft journey.

Can you walk us through your personal morning or evening ritual for setting intentions? How has it evolved over time?

My mornings are really intentional. One of the most important parts is no phone or screen for the first hour, I need that quiet space to tune into myself before the outside world comes in.

I start by opening all the blinds and letting in natural light. Then I make my bed with intention. That part feels like a ritual to me, it’s not just about neatness. It’s about setting the tone for the day, inviting in good rest for later, and even setting energy for things like connection and intimacy.

After that, I meditate, then make my morning drink, coffee, tea, whatever I’m into at the moment. While I drink it, I set an intention for the day and really focus on the feeling behind it.

Then I light a candle, put on some deep focus music from YouTube, and sometimes I’ll pull a tarot card or rearrange something on my altar if I feel called.

This routine has definitely evolved over time. I didn’t start with all of this, I’ve slowly added things that felt good and meaningful.

How do you address the critique that manifestation can sometimes overlook systemic barriers or privilege? How can people work with this tension?

I totally get this critique because life isn’t always easy or fair. For example, I was manifesting a move to Florida, really clear on it—and just when everything was lining up, my ex-husband sued for full custody after we’d already agreed on the move. It felt like the universe throwing a curveball to test me.

That experience showed me that manifestation isn’t about things magically falling into place without obstacles. It’s about choosing to keep going, to hold onto what you want, even when stuff gets messy or unfair.

Manifestation doesn’t erase real challenges or barriers, but it can help you find your power inside those challenges. You can want big change for yourself and still see that the system isn’t always set up to make it easy.

Are there ethical boundaries when it comes to manifesting for others (e.g., love, career opportunities)? How do you navigate that?

This is one of those questions I think gets overcomplicated sometimes. I don’t personally believe you can override someone else’s free will just by wanting something for them. Manifesting is about aligning with energy, not forcing outcomes.

That said, I don’t try to manifest on behalf of other people, especially in love or anything super personal. I focus on how I want to feel, or the type of connection or opportunity I want to invite in, and trust that whoever or whatever matches that will come naturally.

To me, it’s less about ethics and more about intention. If your heart’s in the right place and you’re not trying to control someone else’s life, you’re probably fine.

What’s your advice for someone who feels like their manifestations ‘aren’t working’? How do you troubleshoot blocks?

First, I’d say, don’t panic. That stuck feeling is actually part of the process sometimes. When it feels like things aren’t working, I always check in with a few things:

Am I just wanting it, or am I also believing it’s possible for me?

Am I holding the energy of it in my body—or just repeating the words?

And… am I trying to control how it happens, instead of letting it unfold?

Sometimes we’re unconsciously blocking things because deep down, we don’t feel safe receiving them yet. When that happens, I slow down. I focus on feeling good again, reconnecting to why I want it, and letting go of the pressure.

Manifestation isn’t just about forcing something to show up, it’s about becoming a match for it, and that includes patience, self-trust, and sometimes a little pause to shift your energy.

Do you incorporate ancestral or hereditary practices into your work? How can beginners explore this respectfully?”

Yes, I do, but it’s more about feeling connected to where I come from than following specific rituals. I think of the women in my family, the energy they carried, and I bring that into my work in a way that feels personal and grounding.

For beginners, I always say start with your own roots. You don’t need to copy other cultures to feel spiritual. Light a candle, talk to your ancestors, or learn about your family’s history. Keep it simple and honest and let it grow from there.

What was the most surprising or unexpected discovery you made while writing this book?

How much I changed in the process. I went into it thinking I was just writing down what I already knew, but the deeper I went, the more I had to face my own patterns, doubts, and places where I still didn’t fully trust myself.

It pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t expect. Writing Manifesting didn’t just help me teach others, it helped me become more of the version of myself I had been trying to manifest all along.

Nicole Weiss sat on a chair with a plain white back ground

Are there any TV shows, books, or films that you think nailed the concept of manifestation (or got it totally wrong)?

Yes! The OA really shows how powerful belief and energy can be. It’s not about wishing for things, it’s about trusting something deeper, even if it doesn’t make sense. It’s strange and beautiful and honestly feels like a visual version of how manifestation works on an energetic level.

And Eat Pray Love is a great example too. She doesn’t just hope for a better life, she takes a leap, follows her intuition, and creates something completely new. That’s what real manifestation looks like sometimes: uncomfortable, emotional, but completely transformative.

What’s the most powerful manifestation success story you’ve heard from someone in your community?

One story that really stands out is about a woman I worked with who was going through an incredibly tough time. Her dad had just passed away, and the family company was trying to push her out. She was feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about her future.

I helped guide her through manifestation techniques. focusing on mindset, clarity, and energy work, and she ended up not only winning the company but also receiving two million dollars in the process.

She even sent me some money to thank me for the support, which was so touching. That story reminds me that it can be a real tool for reclaiming power, especially in hard moments.

What’s one ‘witchy’ habit or superstition you can’t quit, even if it’s a little irrational?

I talk to my plants and sometimes trees as if they’re old, wise friends. I ask for their energy, healing, and guidance because I believe they carry ancient magic. Connecting with them helps me stay grounded and in tune with nature’s rhythms.

At the same time, I’m always on the lookout for omens, like certain birds, animals, or signs that feel like messages from the universe. These habits remind me that magic is everywhere if you’re open to it, even in the smallest things.

Image of Nicole Wiess - Manifesting a beginners guide

What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to how people talk about or practice manifestation?

What really gets to me is when people just make a wish or say “claim” on a video and expect things to magically show up right away. Manifestation isn’t like a quick spell or a checkbox you can tick, it takes time, focus, and real effort.

I wish more people understood that it’s about doing the inner work, shifting your energy, and taking aligned action, not just hoping or typing a comment.

What songs or music do you listen to when you’re in ‘manifestation mode’?

I stick to music that feels uplifting and positive, either songs with good vibes and positive words or instrumental tracks with no words at all. I want the music to match the energy I’m putting out.

Sometimes, I listen to songs that make me feel like I’m already living my dream life, that feeling of abundance and joy right now. It’s like setting the mood for what I’m calling in.

If someone told you, ‘Manifestation is just placebo effect,’ how would you respond?

I get why some people think manifestation is just the placebo effect, and I can see where they’re coming from. But I also think that explanation misses a big part of what manifestation really is. It’s not just about belief or mindset; it’s about energy, intention, and how we connect with the world in ways that go beyond what science can easily measure.

So while the placebo effect might explain part of it, there’s something deeper happening that many people feel and experience that can’t be reduced to just that.

What’s the one lesson about manifesting you wish you’d learned sooner?

I wish I’d learned sooner to really appreciate where I am right now and trust that what I want is already on its way. When you can feel that gratitude and belief in the present moment, it actually speeds things up, it’s like the universe can’t wait to deliver.

Candle Magick for Busy Witches: 5-Minute Spells for Protection, Abundance & Self-Love

We’ve pulled together 3 quick Candle magick spells that even the busiest of witches can fit into their day.

Candle magick is one of the most popular forms of witchcraft. It’s also one of the best magickal practices to get to grips with for baby witches in my opinion —and for good reason. It’s accessible, powerful, and deeply symbolic. Fire transforms energy quickly, making it perfect for witches who want fast, effective spells without elaborate setups. Also, let’s be honest, most of us have a penchant for a bit of flame…it’s almost primitive.

Whether you’re rushing out the door or need a quick energetic boost between meetings, these 5-minute candle spells will help you manifest protection, money, and self-love with minimal effort.

Why Candle Magic?

  • Fire is transformative—it burns away negativity and fuels manifestation. It can also create smoke which allows your intentions to dispel into the ether.
  • Colour correspondence -Using certain shades and colours amplifies intentions (e.g., green for wealth, pink for love). If you can’t get a specific colour candle then I recommend substituting for white.
  • No fancy tools needed—just a candle, matches or lighter, and your focus. Simple but power witchcraft at it’s best!

Candle Magic Perfect for: Apartment and witches who live in small spaces, stealth practitioners, and anyone who’s “too busy” for long rituals.

So onto the spells my darlings! Here are 5 quick candle magick spells for you to try and if you’re feeling confident, even add your own spin to. Just remember to be safe when using any materials and well, don’t set fire to shit basically.

Emergency Protection Spell (Black Candle + Salt Ring)

When to use: You feel drained, sense negative energy, or are about to enter a stressful situation. Perfect if you’re about to have a dreaded one to one work meeting or need to cleanse your personal space after a negative visitor.

How to Do It:

  1. Light a black candle (repels negativity).
  2. Draw a salt ring around it (salt purifies and protects).
  3. Say aloud:
“No harm shall reach me, no ill shall stay. This flame burns bright to keep them away.”
  4. Let the candle burn for 5 minutes (or snuff it out and relight later as needed).

Tip: Use a tea light for a quick, mess-free version.

Pst – check out our previous post on how to welcome in the new Month where we cover a fabulous salt cleansing and protection ritual

Like visuals? I’ve also a great video that goes into how to make your own magickal protection dust over on my tiktok here: https://www.tiktok.com/@bunnypudding/video/6979931393195347205

Close up of a green candle with a lit flame

Quick Money Draw Spell (Green Candle + Bay Leaf)

When to use: Before a paycheck, job interview, or when you need a financial boost. Also great if you’re manifesting money and wanting to attract abundance

Heads up! A lot of people ‘block’ their intentions for attracting abundance with their money wounds (I will cover that subject in depth in another post) so  just remember that money isn’t evil,…how it’s spent and by who it is. If you have abundance you aren’t taking it away from anyone else…trust me there is enough to go around 😉

What you need: A green candle, a bayleaf, a pen and fire proof bowl.

How to Do It:

  1. Light a green candle (color of prosperity).
  2. Write a money amount or goal on a bay leaf (e.g., “£500” or “new job”).
  3. Hold the Bay leaf to your lips, whisper your wish, then burn it in the flame.
  4. Let the candle burn down completely (or for at least 5 minutes).

Why it works: Bay leaves are fast-acting in fire magic, and green candles align with wealth energy.

Check my in-depth post on all the magickal properties of Bay leaf

Self-Love Spell (Pink Candle + Rose Petal Anointing)

When to use: After a breakup, on bad mental health days, or when you need a confidence boost.

How to Do It:

  1. Light a pink candle (love and compassion).
  2. Rub rose petals between your fingers to release their oil, then anoint the candle (or use rose essential oil).
  3. Say:
“I am worthy, I am enough. My heart is open to my own love.”
  4. Gaze at the flame and visualise warmth filling your chest.

Further considerations: Add a piece of rose quartz nearby to amplify the energy. Working with Venus? Her day is Friday so maybe perform the self love ritual then? Why not check out what the astrology and what the moon phase is on the day that you perform the ritual to really make this spell ‘Pop’

Safety Tip: Tea Lights vs. Pillars for Apartments

  • Tea lights are ideal for renters—self-contained, short burn time, and low fire risk. They can also float on water in some cases so if you wish to be extra cautious why not do the rituals in the tub?
  • Pillar candles require a stable holder and should never be left unattended.
  • Never leave burning candles near curtains, pets, or kids! As someone with a Kitten, trust me on this one.

Ok Coven, now it’s your Turn!

Try one of these spells tomorrow morning—they take less time than brewing coffee!

The Blue Supermoon: Rituals and Reflections for August 19th, 2024

Tonight’s Moon will also welcome a rare and powerful celestial event: the Blue Supermoon. Learn more in todays post!

Hello Coven,

Well, if it isn’t that time of the Month again (No, not that time of the month… the other one, the lunar one) Yes, it’s a Full Moon – and this moon is called the Grain Moon, if you’re Anglo Saxon, or if you’re a Celt like myself, it’s also referred to as the Lynx Moon and/or Dispute Moon but you non-UK dwellers may know it from it’s Native American name The Sturgeon Moon. We’ve previously covered this moon here but I will do a few more posts on moon names in the future.

Tonight’s Moon will also welcome a rare and powerful celestial event: the Blue Supermoon. This extraordinary full moon graces us with combining the amplified energy of a supermoon with the rarity of a blue moon. You see what the Moon did there for us during this very hectic Mercury Retrograde?Very classy, very mindful, very demure. This potent lunar phase offers a unique opportunity for witches and spiritual seekers to harness its energy for growth, release, and transformation. Thank you Moon!

Image Credit: “Super Red Moon” by halfrain is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0.

What is a Blue Supermoon?

A Blue Supermoon is a remarkable event that occurs when a full moon is both a supermoon and a blue moon…but that is a bit of a Mouthful to say so we just merge the names together like Bennifer (R.I.P).

A supermoon happens when the moon is closest to the Earth in its orbit, making it appear larger and brighter in the night sky. It’s blooming beautiful if the sky is actually clear, and dare I say it….rather romantic. Now, as I write this the skies of London are looking rather bloody cloudy so I’m not too hopeful to get a decent view, but if you can, please enjoy!

The term “blue moon” refers to the third full moon in a season (We’re currently in Summer) that has four full moons, a rare occurrence that lends to the saying “once in a blue moon.”

Although the moon is called “blue,” don’t expect it to actually turn blue. In fact, due to the ongoing wildfires across the globe, the moon may take on a reddish hue, adding to the mystical ambiance of the night. Always keeping us guessing, huh, moon? Loves ya for that!

The Astrological Influence: Full Moon in Aquarius

Tonight’s Full Moon occurs in Aquarius, a sign known for its innovative, rebellious, and humanitarian qualities. This lunar energy encourages us to break free from old patterns, embrace new ways of thinking, and connect with our communities. With Saturn, the planet of structure and discipline, ruling Aquarius, this Full Moon is a perfect time for serious reflection on our personal boundaries and the systems we’ve built in our lives. Are they serving us, or is it time for a change?

As always here are some rituals that you can use to celebrate tonight Moon and really harness it within your practice.

aquarius” by chaouki is licensed under CC BY-SA 2.0.

Rituals to Celebrate the Blue Supermoon

  1. Release and Renew Ritual
The Blue Supermoon is a powerful time for letting go of what no longer serves you. Start by creating a sacred space, whether indoors with candles and crystals or outdoors under the moonlight. Write down on a piece of paper what you wish to release—habits, fears, relationships, or anything else that feels heavy. Once you’ve written everything down, safely burn the paper, visualising the smoke carrying your burdens away. As the paper turns to ash, feel the weight lift from your spirit, making space for new beginnings.
  1. Moon Water Creation
Harness the potent energy of the Blue Supermoon by creating moon water. Fill a glass jar (or whatever clear receptacle that you have) with fresh water and place it outside under the moonlight. You can add crystals like clear quartz or amethyst near to the water to amplify the water’s energy – but please check if you actually want to add the crystals to water as some are not water and/or human consumption Friendly. As you place the jar, set an intention for what you want this moon water to bring into your life— eg. clarity, protection, love or healing. Use this charged water to cleanse your altar, anoint yourself, drink or even water your plants to share the moon’s blessings with your surroundings.

More info on ways to use Moon Water here as I am kinda obsessed with the stuff, but that’s fine, as better to have a Moon water fixation than a crack one, eh?

  1. Aquarius-Inspired Meditation
Since this Full Moon is in Aquarius, focus on connecting with the air element through breathwork and meditation. Find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed. Begin by taking deep, cleansing breaths, inhaling for four counts, holding for four, and exhaling for four. Visualise the energy of the Blue Supermoon filling your body with each breath, bringing insights and revelations. Allow yourself to receive any messages or visions that come through during this meditation. Afterward, journal your thoughts to capture any wisdom the moon has shared with you.
  1. Community Connection Ceremony
Aquarius energy is all about community and collective consciousness. Take this opportunity to gather with like-minded friends or fellow witches for a group ritual. You can collectively set intentions for the greater good, perform a group tarot reading, or simply share what you’re releasing and manifesting during this moon. If meeting in person isn’t possible, consider hosting a virtual gathering …a wee Digital Coven  if you will…where everyone can connect and share their lunar experiences.
  1. Crystal Charging and Grid Making
The heightened energy of the Blue Supermoon makes it an excellent time to cleanse and charge your crystals. Lay them out under the moonlight, allowing them to soak up the moon’s vibrations. You can also create a crystal grid with stones that correspond to your intentions for this lunar cycle. Use stones like selenite for clarity, rose quartz for love, or black tourmaline for protection. Arrange them in a pattern that resonates with you, and place your written intentions in the centre of the grid to amplify your manifestations.

6. Update That Vision Board, Babes!

The innovative and forward-thinking energy of Aquarius makes this Full Moon an ideal time to create a vision board. Gather images, words, and symbols that resonate with your aspirations and goals. Whether you prefer a physical board with magazine cutouts or a digital version using apps, focus on the dreams you wish to manifest in the coming months. As you arrange your vision board, infuse it with the powerful intentions you set during your other Full Moon rituals. Place it somewhere you’ll see it regularly to keep your goals front and centre in your daily life.

7. Journaling for Reflection and Manifestation

Journaling under the Blue Supermoon is a potent way to channel its energy into personal growth and manifestation. Start by reflecting on the themes of the Aquarius Full Moon: innovation, community, and breaking free from old patterns. Ask yourself questions like, “What outdated beliefs am I ready to release?” and “How can I contribute to my community in a meaningful way?”
Once you’ve explored these reflections, shift your focus to manifestation. Write down your goals and dreams in detail, using the present tense as if they are already happening. For example, “I am confidently embracing new opportunities that align with my true self.” The act of writing solidifies your intentions, making it easier for you to attract these experiences into your life.

I’ll share an example of mine too: I’m going to push through my mental health wobbles and anxiety by updating Digital Coven more as well as making more online content on Social Media. Even though it’s scary annnnd I feel like I’m screaming into the void sometimes…If it’s making me nervous but also excited then it’s work worth doing…right?  What are you going to do?

Reflecting on the Blue Supermoon’s Energy

As you partake in these rituals, take time to reflect on the significance of this rare Blue Supermoon. What old patterns are you ready to release? How can you embrace change and innovation in your life? Aquarius energy invites us to step outside our comfort zones and envision a brighter future, not just for ourselves, but for the world around us. Community and unity have certainly been the themes of this year as we had Pluto FINALLY leave Capricorn and enter Aquarius.

This Blue Supermoon is a cosmic reminder that transformation is always within reach, even in the most unexpected moments. Use tonight’s energy to realign with your highest self, let go of the past, and step boldly into the future….We’ve got this, even if the world does seem a bit overwhelming and crazy at times!

Are you doing anything for tonight’s Full Moon? If so let me know below down in the comments or via my social channels – as well what can I say, it helps in this very noisy digital world and it just makes me feel happy to hear from Y’all!

As the crisp winds of autumn sweep through the land, a familiar aroma fills the air, beckoning us with its warm, comforting embrace. It’s the enchanting scent of pumpkin spice, a blend that transcends the boundaries of flavors and invokes the essence of Autumn and mania in shopping aisles. Today, we’re exploring the rich history of pumpkin spice, its intriguing ties to folklore and witchcraft, and how this magical mixture has become an essential part of our seasonal rituals and coffee orders.

The Origins of Pumpkin Spice:

Pumpkin spice, that delightful combination of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger, traces its roots back to ancient civilizations. Spices like cinnamon and nutmeg were highly prized in ancient Egypt and India, not only for their culinary uses but also for their medicinal and mystical properties.

Pumpkin Spice: Folklore and Harvest Celebrations:

The association between pumpkin spice and folklore can be traced to the autumn harvest festivals celebrated by various cultures. Pumpkins, as a quintessential fall crop, were often featured prominently in these celebrations. The spices used in pumpkin spice blends were believed to have protective and purifying qualities. In some traditions, these spices were sprinkled around homes to ward off malevolent spirits and ensure a bountiful harvest.

How to make Moon Water

UK Tarot Reader and Witch Emma teaches us about the enchanting world of Moon water and the ways it supercharges your witchcraft.

The New Moon is in Virgo on the 15th September so I thought it would be timely to learn more about the enchanting world of Moon water and the ways it supercharges your witchcraft. Whether you’re a seasoned witch or just dipping your toes into the magical waters, harnessing the power of the Moon and its cycles can add a celestial touch to your craft. Plus….it’s really bloody fun. Who doesn’t like making a lil ceremony out of things, huh?

Today, we’re gonna dive into the process of making Moon water during the new Moon and explore the ways you can use this elixir in your spells and rituals.

Making Moon Water:

How to make Moon water from your very own home is simple, just follow the below instructions.

What you will need to make moon water:

  • A clean glass or crystal container – preferably with a lid
  • Pure, clean water – spring or filtered works best and tap is fine
  • A quiet, sacred space under the night sky – if you don’t have access to any outdoor space then a shelf or window sill works.
  • Patience and intent – Make sure you know what your New Moon intentions are before you begin the Moon Water process.

How to make Moon Water:

Now you have everything that you need please follow these next steps to make your New Moon Water.

  • Choose Your Moon Water  Container: Select a clear, glass or crystal container for your Moon water. The container should be clean and free from any contaminants especially if you plan to drink the water. If you can only get clear plastic etc that is fine.
  • Setting the Stage: Find a quiet, sacred space outdoors where you can place your container. The new Moon phase is the ideal time to connect with the Moon’s energy, as it represents new beginnings and fresh intentions. If you don’t have access to outside space then you can store your Moon water on a shelf or window sill so it can bask in the Moonlight.
  • Fill Your Container: Pour your chosen water into the container and make sure that it is sealed tight so no little nasties get in there! [Optional] You can also add herbs and other ingredients to help flavour the water and/or build the intent.
  • Select Your Crystal [optional]: Placing a crystal by your water can infuse it with additional energy. Quartz crystals are versatile and work well for most intentions, but you can choose one that resonates with your specific goal. PLEASE NOTE: Putting crystals in the water is risky so please don’t do this or check with an expert before you do if you plan to consume the water.
  • Set Your Intentions: As you place your container in the Moonlight, focus on your intentions for this Moon water. What do you want to manifest in your life? Visualise this goal and set the water with your intent/manifestation. [Optional] You can write down on a piece of paper your goals and leave by the Moon water to set your intent and/or you can read aloud your intentions when placing your water in it’s charging location. I like to use music to get me into the magickal head space as well.
  • Leave It to Charge: Leave the container under the Moonlight for the entire night, ideally from the moment the new Moon is visible until dawn. We all have different life and sleep patterns so these times may vary.
  • Retrieve Your Moon Water: When you wake up, collect your container. Your Moon water is now charged with the energy of the new Moon and your intentions.

Now,  it’s time to use that Moon water to make some magick and there are plenty of ways to use Moon water in your practice.

The Witchy Uses of Moon Water

Now that you’ve crafted yourself some snazzy lil’  Moon water, let’s explore the fascinating ways you can integrate it into your witchcraft. We’ll go more in depth into these ways in further posts but for a general idea:

Spellwork and Rituals: Moon water is a versatile ingredient in spellcasting. Use it to consecrate tools, anoint candles, or enhance the potency of your spells.

Cleansing and Purification: Sprinkle Moon water around your home to cleanse and purify the energy. You can also add a few drops to your bath for a spiritually refreshing experience.

Adding Moon water to a mix of water and salt is a fabulous cleanser for your floor. Mirror magic? Mixing Moon water with salt and vinegar is great for cleaning your mirrors which capture a lot of energy and can be powerful tools for spell work.

You could even use a larger container especially for the storaging of Moon water for use in cleansing your home throughout the cycle. Now, that is dedication!

Divination Enhancer: Dab Moon water on your third eye (forehead) before a tarot reading or scrying session to enhance your intuitive abilities. You could also do this before bed to encourage psychic dreams.

Meditation Aid: Sip a small amount of Moon water before meditation or bedtime  to help you connect with your inner self and the lunar energies.

Anointing Tools: Dip your wand, or other magical tools in Moon water to enhance their magical potency. Also great for jewellery and other magical apprael.

Blessing and Protection: Create a protective circle by sprinkling Moon water around your sacred space before rituals or spellcasting.

Beauty and Self-Care: Incorporate moon water into your skincare routine to promote clear, radiant skin and a sense of inner and outer beauty. You can even use Moon water in the bath and wash your face and hair with that extra magical touch. Just make sure to visualise what you are manifesting as you do.

Manifestation: Use Moon water to water plants, symbolizing the nurturing of your intentions and goals (more on this later in the month!). You can also drink it as you visualise your manifestation goals

When is the next New Moon?

The next New Moon is 15th September 2023 and will be in Virgo. This is the best time to set your intentions due to it being the last New Moon before Eclipse Season kick starts from 14th October. Eclipses can be chaotic so I don’t personally manifest during time (I learn from my mistakes!) so I use this time to plant the seeds and build the foundations of what I am manifesting before taking a lil break until after eclipse season ends on the 28th Oct.

The remaining New Moons for 2023 are:

14th October 2023

  • New Moon – New Hunter’s Moon

13th November 2023

  • New Moon – New Beaver Moon

12th December 2023

  • New Moon – New Cold Moon

Have I  inspired you to make moon water or use it in a different way? I hope so and as always we’d love to hear here from you at Digital Coven HQ so let us know in the below comments or via socials.

Witchcraft at work Interview with Joseph, creator of Money, Mindset & Strategy.

We interview Joseph, from coaching business called Money, Mindset & Strategy. We discuss coaching and empowering people to step into their power with money.

Bunnypudding (Emma) here, sorry we’ve been quiet for a few weeks, Coven. We’ve been doing huge life changes which has certainly kept us busy but we have loads of fabuous content coming up. Including work with the fabulous Joseph from MMS Strategy who we are interviewing in today’s Witchcraft at Work.

Take it away, Joseph!

First, tell us about yourself!

I’m Joseph, I live in Ibiza and run a coaching business called Money, Mindset & Strategy. I specialise in coaching and empowering my clients to step into their power with money, build wealth and get comfortable charging a lot more for their services.

I host a podcast and run an online academy called MMS Academy.

I love coaching on money because it affects almost every area of out lives and I believe it’s a reflection of our relationship with ourselves.

What is witchcraft to you?

I think it’s personal to everyone which is what makes it so beautiful and powerful. To me, witchcraft is using your own natural power, inner wisdom and intuition to create changes in your life that are meaningful for you.

It gives you different things depending on what you need at that time in your life. Whether you are using your intuition to plan some next steps or tapping in to your personal power to manifest your goals or simply feeling calmer and more grounded, it’s all witchcraft.

How do you use witchcraft in your day to day life?

It varies depending on what I need or am working on but I like to make sure I am always covering the basics of energetic cleansing, protection and gratitude. For me, those form the foundation of a strong spiritual or magical practice.

I am also a huge fan of maintenance magick, rather than waiting for a problem before doing a spell, I think it;s really important to protect and appreciate the things in your life that are going really well.

And professional life?

If I have a goal or intention I am working on, I will usually do a vision board around it and some candle spells. I have tried many forms of spell work and always see the most results from candle magick.

I also feel it;s really important to regularly study and learn so I make time every day for either reading or listening to material relating to magick or something I’m working on.

I host a weekly mindset and coaching call as part of the Academy I run and before each class I set an intention and do a quick meditation to deliver messages that are helpful and empowering to everyone listening. I’ve done that with all of my work for years whether it;s writing a book, delivering a workshop or coaching a client in a 1 2 1 session, I always use the power of intention.

How have you used witchcraft to support in shaping your career?

When I first started my coaching business, I created vision boards and did weekly candle spells to help manifest my goals.

I also try and meditate most days and tune into my inner wisdom, I think this is a really under rated part of manifesting your goals. Its not just about setting the intention, it’s about understanding that you are the magick and that your actions are a beautiful and important part of the manifestation process.

I tauge a course about magick a few years ago and something that kept coming to me during the writing of it was “magick works through you not just for you” so it’s important to always remember that the power is within you already, never outside of yourself.

Does your work know about your practice?

I’m very open about my beliefs on my podcast and in my workshops, I also have quite a few magical looking tattoos on my arms so it’s definitely not a secret! .
