A Witch’s Guide to Welcoming A Magickal October: Simple New Month Rituals

Magickal Rituals to help bring in a new month. Its October 1st – the countdown to Halloween has begun!

Its October 1st – We are now officially in Spooky Season and the countdown to Halloween has begun! As the calendar turns from September to October, there’s a palpable shift in the air. The light slants differently, the wind carries a new crispness, and the world begins to hum with a spooky, magickal energy. For witches and magickal folk, this isn’t just a date change; it’s a potent threshold. Pass us the Halloween decorations, we’re going in.

A new month is a blank page in your grimoire, a chance to set powerful intentions and align your energy with the themes of the season. This October, don’t just let the month happen to you. Conjure it with purpose.

Here is your simple guide to welcoming October with witchcraft, from a beloved prosperity ritual to other ways to set your magickal tone.

Cinnamon” by Kjokkenutstyr.net

The Cinnamon Abundance Ritual: A Sweet Start to October

Perhaps the most popular and joyful new-month ritual sweeping through the witchy community is the act of blowing cinnamon into your home. This simple practice is a powerful piece of sympathetic magic, rooted in the intention of drawing abundance—in all its forms—across your threshold.

Why Cinnamon?
Cinnamon has been prized for centuries not just for its flavor, but for its potent magical properties. It’s associated with:

  • Prosperity & Abundance: Its warm, stimulating energy is believed to attract wealth and success.
  • Protection: The strong scent is said to create a protective barrier against negative influences.
  • Spiritual Power: It raises vibrational energy, making it perfect for amplifying your intentions and spiritual work.

How to Perform the Cinnamon Ritual:

  1. Gather Your Supplies: All you need is about a tablespoon of ground cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon is ideal, but any cinnamon from your kitchen spice rack will work beautifully.
  2. Set Your Intention: Before you begin, hold the cinnamon in your hand. Close your eyes and focus on what “abundance” means for you this October. Is it financial prosperity? An abundance of joy, creativity, or peace? Be specific in your mind.
  3. Blow in the Blessings: Stand outside your open front door, facing inward. Place the cinnamon in the palm of your hand. Take a deep breath, focusing on your intention, and gently blow the cinnamon from your hand, across the threshold and into your home. As you do, you can say a simple affirmation aloud, such as:With this cinnamon, I blow in prosperity and joy. Welcome, October. My home is a magnet for abundance.
  4. Let it Settle: Do not sweep or vacuum the cinnamon for at least 24 hours. This allows the energy to settle and permeate your home, giving the magic time to work. After that, you can clean it normally, visualising any residual stagnant energy being swept away with it.

Beyond Cinnamon: Crafting Your October Energy

While the cinnamon ritual is a fantastic foundation, you can build a more personalised monthly practice around it. Here are a few other ways to welcome October’s unique magic.

Energetic Cleansing: Sweep Away the Old
Before you can fill a cup, it must be empty. Start your month by cleansing your physical and energetic space of any lingering September energy.

  • Open a Window: Even for just a minute. Let the stale air of the past month out and invite the crisp, new energy of October in. Shouting and commanding bad spirits out of the house is another fun way to get the house vibes up.
  • Smoke Cleansing: Pass a bundle of rosemary, cedar, or sage around your front door, windowsill, and yourself to clear stagnant energy. As you do, state, “I release all that no longer serves me. My space is clear and receptive.” or whatever intents feel right to you.
  • Sound Bath: Ring a bell, chime, or sing a note in each corner of your main rooms. Sound is a powerful vibratory tool for breaking up dense energy. Yes, banging a saucepan does actually count.

2. Set the Tone: Candle Magic for Your Intentions
What do you want to manifest this October? A candle spell can set the tone.

  • Take a candle (a tea light or a small chime candle is perfect). Anoint it with a drop of olive or sunflower oil, moving from the wick outward to draw energy in, or from the base to the wick to release energy.
  • As you do, speak your intention for October. Is it protection for the spooky season? Introspection for your shadow work? Joy for the Halloween festivities? Press that intention into the wax.
  • Light the candle and let it burn safely while you meditate, write in your journal, or simply enjoy a moment of quiet. Visualize your month unfolding as you desire.

3. Divination for the Month Ahead: Consult the Cards
Ask your tarot or oracle deck for guidance. A simple three-card pull can offer profound insight:

  • Card 1: The Energy of September’s End. What are you carrying over?
  • Card 2: The Core Theme of October. What is the central lesson or focus?
  • Card 3: Advice for Navigating the Month. How can you best work with this energy?
Journal the message and keep the cards on your altar or desk as a guide you can revisit all month long.
Scents of Salem candle with tarot cards and herbs

4. Create an October Grimoire Page
Dedicate a page in your Book of Shadows or journal to this powerful month.

  • Write the word “OCTOBER” in a beautiful script.
  • Note the astrological events (New Moon, Full Hunter’s Moon).
  • Circle Samhain on October 31st.
  • Jot down your cinnamon ritual intention, your tarot pull, and any goals or spells you want to work on.
This act physically and magically dedicates space for the month’s magic, making you an active participant in its creation.

Weaving Your Monthly Tapestry

You don’t need to do all of these things. Even one small, focused act—like blowing cinnamon across your threshold—is enough to mark the transition with magic and purpose. By taking just 15-30 minutes for this practice, you move from passively watching the calendar turn to actively weaving the tapestry of your month.

Interview by Emma Carney

You describe yourself as a ‘modern-day magic maker’—how do you blend ancient manifesting techniques with contemporary witchcraft?”

For me it’s about taking old, powerful practices and making them work in a modern way. I use things like intention-setting, journaling, visualization, and working with the moon. Tools people have used for centuries, but I combine them with things like mindset shifts, affirmations, and raising your vibration through daily habits.

Visualization and vibration are huge parts of how I manifest, I believe that what you see in your mind and feel in your body creates your reality. Contemporary witchcraft, to me, is about tapping into energy, using simple rituals to connect with yourself, and building trust in your own inner power. It’s magic that feels grounded, intentional, and real.

What inspired you to write Manifesting? Was there a pivotal ‘aha!’ moment in your own journey?

The pivotal moment for me happened in New York. I was in this old, run-down bookstore and came across a book on energy. The message was simple but life-changing: the way we live each moment, the energy we carry, is what shapes our reality.

At the time in my life I had checked all the boxes—I was married, had kids, a stay-at-home mom with a career on the side. From the outside, everything looked “right.” But deep down, I knew it wasn’t the life I truly wanted. It was the one I was taught to want. That moment in the bookstore cracked something open in me.

Manifesting came from that place, from realizing we don’t have to live out someone else’s version of happiness. We get to create our own. The book is everything I wish I had known when I first started waking up to that truth.

How would you convince a skeptic that manifestation isn’t just wishful thinking?”

I’d start by saying manifestation isn’t about sitting around hoping things magically appear. It’s about the relationship between your mindset, your energy, and your actions. There’s real science behind it too, your beliefs shape your perception, your perception shapes your behavior, and your behavior creates your results.

Most of us are already manifesting all the time, we just don’t realize it. We’re constantly reinforcing stories about what we can or can’t have, what we’re worthy of, what’s possible for us. Manifestation is about becoming conscious of that process and learning how to direct it.

So no, it’s not just wishful thinking. It’s about aligning your energy, beliefs, and choices with what you actually want, instead of what you’ve been programmed to settle for.

“What’s one simple ritual from the book that beginners can try today”

One of the simplest rituals I love and one anyone can start today is a shower manifesting ritual. As the water runs over you, imagine it washing off all fear, doubt, stress, and anything that’s weighing you down. Feel it all being rinsed away.

Then, shift into visualizing that you’re showering in your dream reality. Maybe it’s your dream home, a luxury hotel, or somewhere you deeply desire to be. Imagine every detail, the space, how it feels, even the scent of the products you’d use. Let yourself feel like it’s already real.

When you step out, hold that energy. Move through the rest of your day as if that version of you already exists

Manifesting A Beginners Guide By Nicole Wiess Front Cover Art

You talk about overcoming self-doubt—how do you confront the ‘inner critic’ during the manifesting process?

The inner critic will always have something to say, especially when you’re trying to grow or ask for more. I’ve learned not to silence it, but to question it. When that voice comes up, I pause and ask: Is this actually true? Or is this a fear I’ve picked up from the past?

I also reconnect with the version of me I’m manifesting into. I ask myself, Would she believe this? Would she let this thought stop her? Usually, the answer is no. And from there, I shift. I’ll use affirmations, visualization, or even just a deep breath to come back to my power.

Your book spans global traditions—which culture’s approach to manifestation surprised you the most?

When I was a child, I loved exploring different religions and spiritual traditions, curious about how people around the world understand energy and intention. What surprised me most was the Buddhist tradition.

Unlike the typical idea of manifesting as “wishing” for something, Buddhism emphasizes mindfulness and being fully present. It teaches that how we think and perceive the world shapes our reality, but in a gentle, non-forcing way. The focus is on creating a calm, clear mind that naturally attracts what aligns with you.

“How has TikTok [and social media] reshaped the way people engage with manifestation? Any downsides?

Social media like TikTok has made manifestation more popular and easier to learn. People share ideas and quick tips that inspire a lot of people to try it for themselves.

But sometimes it can feel too fast or shallow like just saying a few words will make things happen right away. That’s not how it really works, and it can make people feel disappointed.

Manifestation takes time and real effort. Social media is a great place to start, but there’s more to it than what you see in short videos.

Manifesting: A beginners Guide By Nicole Weiss Contents Page

“What’s the funniest or weirdest ‘manifestation gone wrong’ story you’ve heard

One of the weirdest ones is actually from my own life. I had been manifesting a move to Florida. visualizing it, planning it, even took a trip there to line everything up. Everything was falling into place… until I came back home to pack, and my ex-husband suddenly decided to sue for full custody, even though he had already agreed to the move.

At first, it felt like the universe completely flipped on me. But looking back, I see it as a moment that asked, “How bad do you want this?” It tested my trust, my clarity, and my ability to keep going even when things got messy. So yeah, sometimes manifestation brings the exact thing you want… but with a twist just to see if you’re really ready for it.

What’s your advice for someone who feels too burned out to even think about manifesting?

If you’re feeling burned out, forget the big vision boards and routines for now. Just come back to something small. Pour yourself a glass of water and drink it with the intention of clearing out anything heavy. Or light a candle and imagine it warming up your energy, even just a little.

“What’s next for you? Any upcoming projects or secret spells?”

Manifesting isn’t about doing more, it’s about shifting your energy. And sometimes the smallest rituals are the most powerful when you’re in a low place.

Yes! I have a new book coming out on September 30th called Witches’ Altar, with Rachel Patterson and Lindsay Squire. It’s all about spells, rituals, and the personal side of your witchcraft journey.

Can you walk us through your personal morning or evening ritual for setting intentions? How has it evolved over time?

My mornings are really intentional. One of the most important parts is no phone or screen for the first hour, I need that quiet space to tune into myself before the outside world comes in.

I start by opening all the blinds and letting in natural light. Then I make my bed with intention. That part feels like a ritual to me, it’s not just about neatness. It’s about setting the tone for the day, inviting in good rest for later, and even setting energy for things like connection and intimacy.

After that, I meditate, then make my morning drink, coffee, tea, whatever I’m into at the moment. While I drink it, I set an intention for the day and really focus on the feeling behind it.

Then I light a candle, put on some deep focus music from YouTube, and sometimes I’ll pull a tarot card or rearrange something on my altar if I feel called.

This routine has definitely evolved over time. I didn’t start with all of this, I’ve slowly added things that felt good and meaningful.

How do you address the critique that manifestation can sometimes overlook systemic barriers or privilege? How can people work with this tension?

I totally get this critique because life isn’t always easy or fair. For example, I was manifesting a move to Florida, really clear on it—and just when everything was lining up, my ex-husband sued for full custody after we’d already agreed on the move. It felt like the universe throwing a curveball to test me.

That experience showed me that manifestation isn’t about things magically falling into place without obstacles. It’s about choosing to keep going, to hold onto what you want, even when stuff gets messy or unfair.

Manifestation doesn’t erase real challenges or barriers, but it can help you find your power inside those challenges. You can want big change for yourself and still see that the system isn’t always set up to make it easy.

Are there ethical boundaries when it comes to manifesting for others (e.g., love, career opportunities)? How do you navigate that?

This is one of those questions I think gets overcomplicated sometimes. I don’t personally believe you can override someone else’s free will just by wanting something for them. Manifesting is about aligning with energy, not forcing outcomes.

That said, I don’t try to manifest on behalf of other people, especially in love or anything super personal. I focus on how I want to feel, or the type of connection or opportunity I want to invite in, and trust that whoever or whatever matches that will come naturally.

To me, it’s less about ethics and more about intention. If your heart’s in the right place and you’re not trying to control someone else’s life, you’re probably fine.

What’s your advice for someone who feels like their manifestations ‘aren’t working’? How do you troubleshoot blocks?

First, I’d say, don’t panic. That stuck feeling is actually part of the process sometimes. When it feels like things aren’t working, I always check in with a few things:

Am I just wanting it, or am I also believing it’s possible for me?

Am I holding the energy of it in my body—or just repeating the words?

And… am I trying to control how it happens, instead of letting it unfold?

Sometimes we’re unconsciously blocking things because deep down, we don’t feel safe receiving them yet. When that happens, I slow down. I focus on feeling good again, reconnecting to why I want it, and letting go of the pressure.

Manifestation isn’t just about forcing something to show up, it’s about becoming a match for it, and that includes patience, self-trust, and sometimes a little pause to shift your energy.

Do you incorporate ancestral or hereditary practices into your work? How can beginners explore this respectfully?”

Yes, I do, but it’s more about feeling connected to where I come from than following specific rituals. I think of the women in my family, the energy they carried, and I bring that into my work in a way that feels personal and grounding.

For beginners, I always say start with your own roots. You don’t need to copy other cultures to feel spiritual. Light a candle, talk to your ancestors, or learn about your family’s history. Keep it simple and honest and let it grow from there.

What was the most surprising or unexpected discovery you made while writing this book?

How much I changed in the process. I went into it thinking I was just writing down what I already knew, but the deeper I went, the more I had to face my own patterns, doubts, and places where I still didn’t fully trust myself.

It pushed me to grow in ways I didn’t expect. Writing Manifesting didn’t just help me teach others, it helped me become more of the version of myself I had been trying to manifest all along.

Nicole Weiss sat on a chair with a plain white back ground

Are there any TV shows, books, or films that you think nailed the concept of manifestation (or got it totally wrong)?

Yes! The OA really shows how powerful belief and energy can be. It’s not about wishing for things, it’s about trusting something deeper, even if it doesn’t make sense. It’s strange and beautiful and honestly feels like a visual version of how manifestation works on an energetic level.

And Eat Pray Love is a great example too. She doesn’t just hope for a better life, she takes a leap, follows her intuition, and creates something completely new. That’s what real manifestation looks like sometimes: uncomfortable, emotional, but completely transformative.

What’s the most powerful manifestation success story you’ve heard from someone in your community?

One story that really stands out is about a woman I worked with who was going through an incredibly tough time. Her dad had just passed away, and the family company was trying to push her out. She was feeling overwhelmed and uncertain about her future.

I helped guide her through manifestation techniques. focusing on mindset, clarity, and energy work, and she ended up not only winning the company but also receiving two million dollars in the process.

She even sent me some money to thank me for the support, which was so touching. That story reminds me that it can be a real tool for reclaiming power, especially in hard moments.

What’s one ‘witchy’ habit or superstition you can’t quit, even if it’s a little irrational?

I talk to my plants and sometimes trees as if they’re old, wise friends. I ask for their energy, healing, and guidance because I believe they carry ancient magic. Connecting with them helps me stay grounded and in tune with nature’s rhythms.

At the same time, I’m always on the lookout for omens, like certain birds, animals, or signs that feel like messages from the universe. These habits remind me that magic is everywhere if you’re open to it, even in the smallest things.

Image of Nicole Wiess - Manifesting a beginners guide

What’s your biggest pet peeve when it comes to how people talk about or practice manifestation?

What really gets to me is when people just make a wish or say “claim” on a video and expect things to magically show up right away. Manifestation isn’t like a quick spell or a checkbox you can tick, it takes time, focus, and real effort.

I wish more people understood that it’s about doing the inner work, shifting your energy, and taking aligned action, not just hoping or typing a comment.

What songs or music do you listen to when you’re in ‘manifestation mode’?

I stick to music that feels uplifting and positive, either songs with good vibes and positive words or instrumental tracks with no words at all. I want the music to match the energy I’m putting out.

Sometimes, I listen to songs that make me feel like I’m already living my dream life, that feeling of abundance and joy right now. It’s like setting the mood for what I’m calling in.

If someone told you, ‘Manifestation is just placebo effect,’ how would you respond?

I get why some people think manifestation is just the placebo effect, and I can see where they’re coming from. But I also think that explanation misses a big part of what manifestation really is. It’s not just about belief or mindset; it’s about energy, intention, and how we connect with the world in ways that go beyond what science can easily measure.

So while the placebo effect might explain part of it, there’s something deeper happening that many people feel and experience that can’t be reduced to just that.

What’s the one lesson about manifesting you wish you’d learned sooner?

I wish I’d learned sooner to really appreciate where I am right now and trust that what I want is already on its way. When you can feel that gratitude and belief in the present moment, it actually speeds things up, it’s like the universe can’t wait to deliver.

5 Easy Morning Witchy Rituals to Start Your Day with Magick

Emma has pulled together 5 witchy morning rituals for your daily practice which are low lift but high impact.

As an ADHD witchy Queen, trust me when I say that I used to start the day with trauma rather than rituals.  I’d wake up in an insane panic after sleeping through my alarm, rush to the shower, where I would usually have an anxious cry (No, seriously for years I’d find myself crying in the shower trying to get into my head how to start the day and not understanding why I just couldn’t be a morning person and just DO life like ‘everyone else’)  throw some clothes, slap some make up on and then run to the tube station. I’d finally reach my destination where I would always, and I mean always be 5 ….ok, 10  minutes late.  Time blindness is real y’all. If you know oh you know. Anyway, one diagnosis and a lot of therapy and shadow work later I am happy to say that I have now discovered mornings and created ways to make them calm and enjoyable…I just really wanted to highlight the above as I’d hate anyone to read the below and think they were failing at life because they simply suck at mornings especially on a work day. I get it, this is a safe space, darlings. Trust me, if you find it hard to get out of bed….that is a normal reaction to a world that is truly over stimulating and scary at times…<3

Anyway, as mentioned here are some further low lift rituals that you can perform in the morning to get you get ready for the day:

As mentioned above mornings set the tone for your entire day— so why not infuse them with a little intentional witchcraft? Whether you’re a busy witch or just love starting your day with mindful magic, these simple, powerful rituals will help you align with your energy, set clear intentions, and move through the day with purpose.

Here are five easy morning witchy rituals  I’ve pulled to weave into your daily routine without too much effort….as the days are hard enough, right?

Best for: Manifestation & Positive Energy:

How to Do It:

  1. Light a candle – You can even  choose a colour to help set up your intentions for the day –  e.g. yellow for energy, or green for abundance
  2. Stand or sit near a window where you can see the morning light.
  3. Hold your hands over the flame (safely) and say:
“With this light, I welcome the day. May my path be bright in every way.” Or another manifestation of your choice – I love to make my own that suits me.
  4. List three things you’re grateful for (out loud or in your mind).
  5. Let the candle burn while you get ready, or snuff it out to relight later.

Why It Works:
Fire is a transformational element, and gratitude shifts your energy toward abundance.

  •  Tip: Use a small tea light if you’re short on time!
  • Tip: Use an incense stick if you have no candles.

Enchanted Morning Brew (Tea or Coffee Spell)

Best for: Energy & Intention Setting:

How to Do It:

  1. As you prepare your tea or coffee, stir clockwise and whisper an intention:
    • “This brew energises me for a productive day.”
    • “This drink fills me with creativity and joy.”
    • “This drink will inspire the creativity I need for today’ s ideas meeting’ etc.
  2. Add magical ingredients:
    • Cinnamon (success)
    • Honey (sweetness in life)
    • Lavender (calm)
    • Chamomile (Abundence)
  3. Before drinking, hold the cup and visualise your day going smoothly.

Why It Works:
Kitchen witchcraft is all about infusing intention into everyday actions—sipping your morning drink becomes a spell!

  •  Magical Add-Ins: Try ginger for motivation or mint for mental clarity – or a herb that correlates with whatever you’re intending for the day…and/or lets be real, what you have in the house 😉

3-Card Daily Tarot or Oracle Pull

Best for: Guidance & Clarity

How to Do It:

  1. Shuffle your deck while asking: “What do I need to know about today?”
  2. Pull three cards:
    • Card 1: Energy of the day
    • Card 2: A challenge to be aware of
    • Card 3: Advice for navigating the day
  3. Journal a quick note or take a photo to reflect on later.

Why It Works:
A mini tarot reading helps you anticipate the day’s energy and align your actions. It’s also super useful for those learning tarot as you get to reflect on how the day went which helps you understand card patterns and develop your own interpretations better.

Tips:

  • Alternative: Use an affirmation card if you’re short on time!
  • Pull a Tarot card of the day if it’s easier
  • Don’t panic! Pull the tower? That doesn’t mean that the day is ruined it could just mean something unexpected and sudden happens etc

Essential Oils & Healthy Oils” by formulatehealth

Aromatherapy Anointing (Oil or Perfume Ritual)

Best for: Confidence & Protection

How to Do It:

  1. Choose an essential oil or perfume with magical properties:
    • Rosemary (mental clarity)
    • Vanilla (self-love)
    • Citrus (energy & joy)
  2. Dab a small amount on your wrists and say an affirmation:
“I am protected, confident, and ready for this day.”
  3. Rub your wrists together to activate the energy.

Why It Works:
Scent is deeply tied to memory and emotion—anointing yourself programs your energy for the day.

  • Witchy Perfume Hack: Use a vanilla-based scent for attraction magic!
  • If you can’t get essential oils then get a perfume that has elements of the scents you wish to use. I am obsessed with this Jo Malone Sage and sea salt scent at the minute
Crystals basking in the sunlight

Quick Crystal Charging Ritual

Best for: Grounding & Focus…and a bit of glamour if you’re channeling an office siren moment.

How to Do It:

  1. Hold a cleansed crystal (clear quartz for clarity, amethyst for intuition, or carnelian for motivation).
  2. Place it on a windowsill to catch the morning sun for 5-10 minutes.
  3. As it charges, set an intention:
“This stone holds my focus and strength for the day.”
  4. Carry it in your pocket or wear it as jewelry.

Pst……I am also a faceroller fan and do this with my crystal face roller as well so when I roll it on my face, I am also setting my intentions. You know we love witch beauty rituals here at Digital Coven!

Why It Works:
Crystals absorb and amplify energy—morning sunlight supercharges their power for your daily intentions.

Bonus: Pair with a daily affirmation while holding the crystal.

Witchy Ways to Welcome the Start of the Month

Let welcome in the start of the Month Witchy style darlings!

A new month is like a mini New Year—full of fresh energy, untapped potential, and a chance to reset your Magickal practice. Whether you’re a seasoned witch or just love a little mystical flair in your routine, there are countless enchanting ways to honour this monthly transition. Here are some of my favourite witchy ways to welcome the start of the month with style, intention, and a sprinkle of enchantment.

Perform a Monthly Tarot or Oracle Card Reading

Tarot and oracle cards are powerful tools for guidance, reflection, and setting the tone for the weeks ahead. A simple monthly spread can help you focus your energy and prepare for what’s coming. It’s also a great way to practice tarot reading if you are a beginner:

How to Do It:

  • Shuffle your deck while thinking: “What energy should I focus on this month?”
  • Pull three cards:
    • Card 1: Theme of the month
    • Card 2: A challenge to be aware of
    • Card 3: Advice for navigating the month
  • Journal your insights and revisit them weekly.

Why It Works:
Tarot helps you tap into your intuition and align with the cyclical nature of time. It’s like having a mystical roadmap!

Cleanse Your Space with Smoke or Sound

A new month calls for a fresh, clean energy in your home. Smoke cleansing (with herbs like sage, rosemary, or your preferred cleanser – I’m partial to cinnamon and use it everyday..see cinnamon section below) or sound cleansing (with bells, singing bowls, or even clapping) can clear out stagnant vibes.

How to Do It:

  • Light a cleansing bundle (or use an incense stick) and walk through each room, wafting smoke into corners and doorways.
  • Say aloud: “I release what no longer serves me and welcome in positive energy.”…I’ve also been known to just bash a frying pan, opening my windows and screaming at negative energy to leave my house – as always here at Digital Coven, do what feels right for you.
  • Alternatively, ring a bell or chime in each room to vibrationally cleanse the space.

Why It Works:
Energetic cleansing helps reset your environment, making it easier to manifest new goals.

Cinnamon” by Kjokkenutstyr.net

Sprinkle Cinnamon at Your Door for Abundance

Cinnamon isn’t just for lattes (but for sure you can use them ritually in your coffee) —it’s a powerful prosperity herb! Sprinkling it at your doorstep at the start of the month invites wealth, success, and positive energy into your home.

How to Do It:

  • On the first day of the month, take a pinch of ground cinnamon.
  • Stand at your front door and say:
“As this cinnamon lies here, abundance draws near.”
  • Sprinkle  it in a line across your threshold (or just inside the door). You can also put it on your palm and blow it out of the door for the same effect.

Why It Works:
Cinnamon has long been used in money magic for its fiery, fast-acting energy. Placing it at your door symbolically welcomes prosperity into your life. You can also use a stick of it every morning to stir your coffee for a daily Abundance ritual, just make sure to stir the intention clockwise towards yourself.

Various types of salts that can be used for cleansing

Salts” by larryjh1234

Cleanse Your Home with Herbs & Salt

A new month calls for a fresh, clean energy in your space. A herbal floor sweep or salt cleanse clears out stagnant vibes and resets the energy.

How to Do It:

  • Mix salt (black salt for protection and/or sea salt for cleansing) with dried rosemary, bay leaves, clove and/or sage.
  • Sprinkle it across your floors (especially near doorways), then sweep or vacuum it up while visualising negativity being removed.
  • Say: “Out with the old, in with the new. This space is cleansed and renewed.” or whatever phrase you feel has your required intent.

Why It Works:
Salt is purifying, and herbs like rosemary boost clarity and protection. Together, they create a powerful reset for your home.

Lay a Protective Salt Barrier at Your Doorstep

Want to keep negative energy out all month long? A protective salt line at your doorstep acts like magical security.

How to Do It:

  • Use black salt, red brick dust, or regular sea salt mixed with protective herbs (like rosemary or thyme).
  • Draw a thin line across your doorstep (outside or inside) while saying:
“No harm may enter, only good may stay. This salt protects me night and day.”
  • Reapply monthly or after heavy rain.

Why It Works:
Salt has been used for centuries as a spiritual barrier. This simple trick keeps your home energetically safe.

Custom Spell Jar” by The Enchanted Web

Create a Monthly Witch Jar or Spell Bag

A witch jar (or charm bag) is a simple way to contain your intentions for the month. Fill it with herbs, crystals, and symbols that align with your goals.

How to Do It:

  • Choose a small jar or pouch.
  • Add ingredients like:
    • Rosemary (clarity)
    • Citrine (abundance)
    • Cinnamon (success)
    • A written intention on paper
  • Seal it and keep it on your altar or in your bag.

Why It Works:
Witch jars hold concentrated energy and act as a physical reminder of your monthly goals.

Host a Simple Abundance Ritual

The start of the month is a great time to invite prosperity—whether financial, emotional, or spiritual. A simple abundance ritual can set the tone.

How to Do It:

  • Light a green or gold candle (colors of wealth).
  • Hold a coin or dollar bill and say:
“Money flows to me easily, and my blessings multiply.”
  • Place the money in your wallet as a prosperity charm for the month.

Why It Works:
Rituals program your subconscious to attract abundance by aligning your energy with gratitude and openness.

Refresh Your Altar for the New Month

If you have a witchy altar, the start of the month is the perfect time to rearrange, cleanse, and rededicate it. I am very guilty of having a messy altar so no shame here, darlings!

How to Do It:

  • Dust off and cleanse crystals/statuettes.
  • Swap out seasonal decor (flowers, colors, symbols).
  • Add a new offering (a crystal, fresh herbs, or a written intention).

Why It Works:
An updated altar reflects your current energy and keeps your practice vibrant.

Herbs that are used in witchy magickal teas and rituals

Brew a Monthly Intentional Tea or Potion

Kitchen witchery is an easy way to blend magic into daily life. Brew a monthly intention tea to sip while setting goals.

How to Do It:

  • Choose herbs like:
    • Peppermint (fresh starts)
    • Lavender (calm)
    • Ginger (motivation)
  • Stir clockwise while whispering your desires into the cup.

Why It Works:
Drinking infused teas internalizes your intentions in a soothing, magical way.

Take a Ritual Bath for Renewal

A monthly cleansing bath washes off old energy and prepares you for new beginnings.

How to Do It:

  • Add Epsom salt, rosemary, or rose petals to your bath.
  • Light candles and say:
“I release the past and welcome this new chapter.”

Why It Works:
Water is a purifying element, and ritual baths are a form of spiritual reset.

The start of a new month is ripe with magic—whether you prefer tarot, cleansing, spellwork, or simple mindful rituals. Pick one (or mix a few!) to set the tone for a month full of intention and enchantment

Which one will you try first? Let me know in the comments! ✨

(Note: Always practice fire safety, and remember—magic is as much about mindset as it is about ritual.)

Magical Bloomsbury: A Spiritual Tour Guide for Witches

I share some of my favourite Witchy haunts in Bloomsbury London, one of my most loved locations in the capital.

Well hello there my daring Coven,

I was recently invited to go on a little adventure to Bloomsbury in London and what I found there was simply delightful! I wanted to share some things that you can do within this Iconic part of London should you ever decide to visit Old Blighty’s capital City (and my truest love, (Said in cockney accent) Laaaannndann Town!

Bloomsbury, known for its intellectual history and leafy squares, is also home to mystical and spiritual treasures perfect for witches, pagans, and those on a spiritual path. From magical bookstores to peaceful parks ideal for grounding rituals, here’s a guide to Bloomsbury’s most enchanting spots.

1. The Atlantis Bookshop

49A Museum Street

Situated just off the British Museum, The Atlantis Bookshop is a Bloomsbury treasure for witches and occultists. As one of the oldest occult bookshops in London, it has been a cornerstone of magical study since 1922. Whether you’re looking for books on witchcraft, tarot, or ceremonial magic, this shop has it all. You’ll also find tools for spellwork like candles, incense, and crystals, making it a perfect stop to restock your magical supplies. You may even bump into me there as I blooming love this love this book store and they have certainly helped me add to my Tarot card collection a few times, eek!

If stopping by, why not check out some of their fabulous events here.

2. The British Museum’s Magical Collections

Great Russell Street

The British Museum is more than just a hub of historical artifacts—it’s a treasure trove of magical history. For witches and occultists, the Egyptian and Assyrian collections offer insight into ancient magical practices, protection amulets, and sacred symbols. Whether it’s the Book of the Dead or powerful talismans used by the ancients, there’s much for the modern practitioner to learn here. Don’t miss out on the mystical collections of ancient rituals and symbols, from protection amulets to sacred scrolls. Check out there current events and where to book guided tours here.

Bloomsbury has so many fabulous Museums and Galleries so check out a comprehensive list here

3. Bloomsbury Squares and Gardens

Bloomsbury is famous for its charming squares, many of which offer tranquil spaces perfect for magical work. Russell Square, Bedford Square, and Gordon Square are all havens for anyone looking to meditate, perform a grounding ritual, or simply connect with the earth’s energies. The quiet, leafy surroundings provide an ideal spot for outdoor tarot readings or spiritual contemplation, especially in the early mornings when the energy is serene. You can even book out some of their parks for events, so perfect if you fancy a coven meeting with a unique London Twist!

Check out some of the many Bloomsbury parks and green spaces here.

4. The Foundling Museum

40 Brunswick Square

While not strictly magical, the Foundling Museum has a strong connection to Bloomsbury’s spiritual and compassionate history. The museum tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, established in the 18th century to care for abandoned children. Witches working with themes of charity, ancestral healing, or children’s protection may find this a moving place to visit. The history and energy of the site make it a unique stop for those on a spiritual journey. I went via a walking tour and the energy around this area was magical. On that note, I highly recommend booking a walking tour if you can, I learned so much!

5. St. George’s Gardens

Judd Street

One of Bloomsbury’s hidden gems, St. George’s Gardens was originally a burial ground, and now serves as a peaceful green space with a lingering sense of the past. For witches who work with spirits or ancestors, this garden is a quiet, reflective place perfect for ancestral veneration or spirit work. The trees and old gravestones create a serene atmosphere, making it ideal for meditation or quiet magical practice.

Check out some of the many Bloomsbury parks and green spaces here.

6. Treadwell’s Books (On the Bloomsbury Border)

33 Store Street

Although located right on the border of Bloomsbury, another of my favouirte bookstores Treadwell’s Books deserves a mention for anyone on a spiritual path. Known for its excellent collection of books on magic, paganism, and the occult, Treadwell’s also hosts lectures, workshops, and ritual evenings, making it a central hub for witches and spiritual seekers in London. Check out their events for a chance to connect with like-minded people and learn more about your craft.

You can also become a member and get exclusive contents and discounts, which I am very tempted to do myself very sooon!

7. The Wellcome Collection

183 Euston Road

While technically just outside Bloomsbury’s traditional boundary, the Wellcome Collection is close enough to include for those interested in the intersection of spirituality, magic, and healing. The museum’s exhibits often explore esoteric and alternative healing practices, including alchemy, spiritual healing, and the relationship between mind, body, and spirit. It’s a fascinating place for those looking to delve into the mysteries of magical healing traditions and their modern-day interpretations.

Me at the Kimpton!

8. The Kimpton Fitzroy London

1-8 Russell Square

As a bougie queen who loves a bit of luxury and history combined we certainly need to be staying over in style, we deserve it after all! One of Bloomsbury’s most elegant landmarks, the Kimpton Fitzroy London is a stunning hotel that blends history and glamour, and it’s also a place of esoteric wonder. Built in 1898, this terracotta masterpiece welcomes you with four British queens guarding its entrance. Inside, you’ll find a magnificent Zodiac mosaic at your feet in the hotel’s lobby—a nod to the mystical influence of astrology. The ornate design invites guests to connect with their astrological sign and the wider cosmos, making it an enchanting experience for any spiritual traveler…and if you want, you can even book a tarot reading whilst there!

Throughout the hotel, modern comforts merge with historic details, creating an atmosphere rich in energy and history. Whether you stay for a night or just stop by to admire the lobby’s Zodiac mosaic, the Kimpton Fitzroy is a must-visit for those who feel connected to celestial magic and symbolism. I highly recommend staying for a drink and a bite to eat as their food is some of the best I’ve had in London.

Bloomsbury is a neighbourhood full of quiet magic, intellectual energy, and spiritual history. Whether you’re meditating in a hidden garden, seeking inspiration at an occult bookshop, or contemplating ancient spells at the British Museum, there’s something for every witch or spiritual seeker in this historic part of London. So, grab your broomstick (or simply your journal and tarot deck) and explore Bloomsbury’s hidden spiritual treasures.
